If you want a professional quality guitar, but aren't ready to shell out $500 to $1,000+ a big brand name like Fender, Taylor, Martin, Gibson, etc., there are alternatives. Here are 3 tips to help you get a top-quality, great sounding guitar for 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of the the big names.:
1. Check your ego, and decide that you don't need to own a famous brand. Instead focus on the quality, sound, and playability of the guitar itself. Look "under the radar" for less well-known brands.
2. Buy from a well-established maker with a good reputation. Even though you may not have heard of a certain brand of guitar, it doesn’t mean it’s bad, or good. Check the reputation by looking at actual customer reviews on websites. Artist endorsements are another good indicator of professional quality.
3. Pay attention to the warranty and customer service and support. Low price doesn't matter if the company doesn't back their products and provide great service. Look for a guitar brand that is backed by a real company, with real people, and a solid warranty and service to back it up.
